OVERVIEW

What is Shoulder Impingement?

Relieve tendon compression and friction for smooth, pain-free overhead reach.

Early non-surgical decompression relieves pain promptly and prevents microscopic tendon wear from turning into complete tears.

COMMON SYMPTOMS
  • Pain when reaching forward, sideways, or overhead (painful arc between 60°–120°)
  • Pinching sensation at mid-arc elevation
  • Ache radiating down the outer deltoid region
  • Difficulty putting on shirts or reaching into overhead lockers
COMMON CAUSES
  • Immediate elimination of tendon friction
  • Quick return to sports and daily chores

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

Here are some common questions about shoulder impingement and their treatment.

Have More Questions? →
What is the "Painful Arc" in shoulder impingement? ×
It is a characteristic pain pattern where your shoulder hurts while lifting the arm sideways between 60 and 120 degrees, but feels comfortable below 60 degrees and above 120 degrees because the tendon clears the bone.
Are steroid injections safe for shoulder pain? +
When administered under high-definition ultrasound guidance directly into the inflamed bursa (not the tendon itself), targeted injections are exceptionally safe and offer rapid, transformative pain relief.
What is calcific tendinitis and can it be cured without surgery? +
Yes. Calcific tendinitis involves chalk-like calcium deposits inside the tendon. Dr. Ishan Shevate performs ultrasound-guided barbotage (needle aspiration and lavage) to dissolve and aspirate the calcium without surgery.
When is keyhole surgery needed for impingement? +
If conservative treatments and guided therapy do not provide lasting relief after 6 to 12 weeks, keyhole subacromial decompression (acromioplasty) shaves off the pinching bone spur to provide permanent relief.
