FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FAQs

Here are some common questions about rotator cuff injuries and their treatment.

Have More Questions? →
How long does recovery take after rotator cuff surgery? ×
Most patients recover comfortably within 3 to 6 months. Initial immobilization in a sling lasts about 2 to 4 weeks, progressive mobility is restored between weeks 6 and 12, and full strength for gym or overhead sports returns by months 4 to 6.
Will I be able to play sports again? +
Yes. With modern all-arthroscopic double-row repair and structured sports-specific rehabilitation protocols, the majority of active patients safely resume gym workouts, cricket bowling, swimming, tennis, and recreational athletics.
Is surgery always required for rotator cuff tears? +
Not always. Partial tears and age-related tendinopathy frequently respond well to conservative therapies, including ultrasound-guided injections and targeted physical therapy. Full-thickness or retracted tears usually benefit from keyhole repair to prevent permanent muscle loss.
What are the risks of rotator cuff surgery? +
Arthroscopic keyhole repair is minimally invasive and very safe with complications in less than 1% of cases. Potential risks include transient joint stiffness, infection, or anchor failure, which are minimized with experienced surgical technique and guided rehab.
